About Kelly

First of all, THANK YOU for stopping by! I consider it a blessing that you took an extra click to read more about this blog and me. I am wife, mother, daughter, sister, artist, university lecturer, living organ donor, runner, and lover of all things archeology and history (not necessarily in that order, but all of those nouns are a good way to let you know a little about me in a very quick way). Continue reading to find out how I want to help you learn to hear God’s calling on your life.

Who My Blog can Help

This blog can help women of all ages and backgrounds who want to pursue their life’s calling and lead more intentional and joyful lives. My career as an art teacher and long-time believer has led me to want to reach out and help other women through artistic endeavors (whether you think you have artistic talent or not!).

What I Blog About

I help women understand and learn to listen to God’s calling on their lives through art, inspirational stories, and workshops.

Below are some of the topics I write/speak about:

-Art & Prayer Journaling

-Hearing God's Voice

-Living Organ Donation

-Marriage & Family

I normally publish one new post every other Sunday, as well as a Hump Day Hiatus devotional every Wednesday. To make sure you do not miss any posts or devotionals, you can subscribe via email on the right side of this page.

Why I Blog

I honestly feel the Lord told me to start sharing my story. Crazy, I know! But, as you continuing reading my story, I hope you will see I’m really not crazy, just passionate. I am a Christian, always have been, always will, but over the past few years my relationship with the Lord has grown by leaps and bounds due to a lot of life changes and opportunities. I’ve learned a lot and not always the easy way, so I blog to hopefully help those coming behind me.

My Life’s Mantra is “Ancora Imparo” which means “I am still learning”. Michelangelo said this when he was in his eighties. Once I finished my Ph.D. in 2013, I had that statement tattooed on my arm as a constant reminder I have yet to learn everything I need to know. I blog to continue learning things I am curious about, things I have yet to discover, and I would like to take you along for the ride.

I Have Never Felt Like I Should Call Myself an Artist, a Teacher, a Writer, a Mother, nor a Wife. Some of those titles have been bestowed upon me by happenstance, some by training and education, and some by God’s mighty hand, but all help explain who I am. We all have “titles” that help define us, but are those titles really who we are? I blog to help others and myself find out who we are and who we are meant to be.

About my Family

I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Tom, since June 12, 2011. I say that specific date because that is also my parents’ wedding anniversary. They have been married since 1960, so Tom and I have a LONG way to go. We are still learning how to live with each other, how to love, and how to discern the reason we think the Lord put us together.

We share custody of my daughter, Ann-Ashton, and son, Camp, with my ex-husband and good friend, Jim. Parenting is not what I thought it would be. It has certainly changed my opinion of what MY parents had to deal with! (More on this subject later in the blog)

We live in Alabama, but I split my time between two cities in the state. I spend 3.5 days in a small university town teaching Visual Arts and Art Education classes and the other 3.5 days at home with my family in another city. I love my job. I do not like living out of a suitcase. In my free time, I love reading, running, learning, archeology, watching crime dramas and home remodeling shows, wine tasting, and creating art. When Tom and I have free time (which is not often enough!) we love watching movies, hanging out with other couples, and riding mountain bikes.
