When you go without food so you can pray better, do not be as those who pretend to be someone they are not. They make themselves look sad so people will see they are going with out food. For sure, I tell you, they have all the reward they are going to get. When you go without food so you can pray better, put oil on your head and wash your face. Then nobody knows you are going without food. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you.
~Matthew 6:16-18 (NLV)~
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and are having a "calm" week this week prior to the new year. We, here in the South, are dealing with a lot of bad weather, as I know many are around the country. This is just not TYPICAL December weather in the South! Yikes! Praying everyone stays safe!
I'm SO excited to release what I promised last week.........drumroll please......
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope you enjoy using it as much as I have enjoyed creating it! Researching scripture, writing and designing prayer and fasting plans, and learning publishing specs (that was the hardest!) have been fun and fulfilling challenges this week.
Our church, Church of the Highlands, does two of these 21 Day Prayer challenges each year. One in January, which includes fasting, and one in August. Last August 2015 we did a 21 Day Prayer and Art Challenge (flip over to the Creative Awakenings page to see those fun, mini art projects!). I decided 21 art projects were TOO many to do again, so we will do 3, one per week. That sounds more manageable, don't cha think?
So here's the plan:
1-Download the 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting Journal - you will have to print it because it's saved in a PDF
2-Read through it so you can make a plan for yourself starting Sunday, January 3, 2016. (That's why I'm giving it to you NOW!)
3-Begin the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting with the rest of the When We Listen community on Sunday! We will go for 21 days, so that's January 3-23. I will send updates, words of encouragement, etc. throughout the 3 weeks.
4-Participate in the 3 Art Projects. Each project's directions will be posted on Sunday so you have a week to complete each one. (This is TOTALLY optional, of course!)
I would love to hear how you used the journal, how your 21 days went, and welcome any suggestions on making the journal better, so PLEASE email me or comment below.
My prayer for 2016, January, and these 21 days is that each and everyone of you will take time for yourself to sit in His presence and listen to what He's saying to you. If you do this, wholeheartedly, I promise you something will change!
